Episode 7: Moderation & Boundary
Jan 31, 2024
"Sometimes you have to love people from a distance.
You have the right to create boundaries.
You have the right to not pick up the phone and listen.”
-- Jennae Cecelia
I want to share this little poem with you today.
For a long time, I thought cultivating a better relationship with alcohol was just about learning to “drink less.”
But it turned out that it was just a part of it.
It’s also about learning to create boundaries, without the help of alcohol.
Not stress ourselves to the point of needing escape; hit pause before we need to shut down; allow ourselves a break before we have to resort to the bottle.
You are allowed to rest and relax, even without a glass in your hand:
Choosing not to pick up the phone.
Be the first to leave a party.
Say “no” when you are already stretched thin.
>> What is one way you can give yourself a break today that doesn’t involve having a glass in your hand?
