A new chapter is underway
As I’m typing this email to you, all my belongings are scattered into three big piles behind me:
The biggest pile is labeled donation.
A medium one says dump.
And the smallest pile, tucked to the left, says China.
Yes, another new chapter is about to begin for me.
As I look at the two big piles on the right, I can almost feel a chapter closing in front of my eyes.
In those piles are my collection of scented candles, my favorite floral dresses from my twenties, and even Peanut and Walnut, pawing each other in a packing box, completely oblivious to the impending goodbye.
I feel tears blurring my eyes.
Sometimes, I wish life could just stay still — that I would never have to say goodbye to anything.
Familiarity is cosy and comfy, like alcohol.
But life is also about movement. And movement and stagnation cannot coexist.
It makes me think of you, my friend.
When we choose to open a new chapter, by definition, we are closing an old chapter.
>> What new chapter do you wish to open in 2026, with less alcohol, and what chapter are you closing?

P.S. One of the changes you may notice is a shift in these emails. You might find a little more of the real me here: maybe a slice of life, maybe a quiet reflection.
But of course, you can count on me to always link it back to a delicious insight around your sober-curious journey. :)
