Vol 4. Temptation run on code—let’s change it
Over the last few emails, we’ve been unpacking a game-changing truth about temptation:
👉 Temptation comes from belief.
👉 Belief isn’t always equal to reality.
👉 And if it isn’t fully true… it can change.
You might be wondering:
What does any of this have to do with my Sober Curious journey?
Let me show you.
Imagine this:
You’ve just had a stressful day.
You walk into the kitchen.
And the thought flashes: “I deserve something to help me relax.”
You glance at the wine bottle on the counter.
An old belief shows up: “A glass of wine will do the trick.”
But then something shifts.
You pause.
And a new belief surfaces:
“No, it doesn’t. There are better ways to relax that leave me feeling genuinely good.”
So you head into the bedroom, slip into soft pajamas, queue up your favorite playlist, and make yourself a smooth, warm drink.
The craving softens.
The pull loosens its grip.
And suddenly, wine isn’t the only option.
In time, it may not even be the most appealing one.
Because when your belief changes—your temptation does, too.
That’s the magic. ✨
In SCS, you’re not here to battle cravings.
You’re here to update the code that creates them.
And no—I’m not suggesting you force yourself into new beliefs.
I’ll be holding your hand as we gently name them, examine them, and rewrite them—one at a time.
For now, all you need to do is start seeing your beliefs for what they are:
Not truth.
But thoughts.
And thoughts can change.
