Vol.47 When loneliness hits during the holiday
It’s only November, but the holiday spirit has already started to fill the air in Walmart.
Ugly sweaters hang near the entry, rows of ornaments fill up the shelf, and eggnog waves at me in the dairy section.
Holidays are one of the most joyful times of the year. But it’s also a season where loneliness often hits out of nowhere.
If you’ve ever found yourself feeling an odd sense of void in your chest during this time of the year, you’re not alone.
In fact, a 2024 Gallup report found that one in five Americans experiences loneliness on a daily basis. And the loneliness is often amplified as the holiday jingles fill the air.
Many of my clients told me that they’d pour a glass of wine to escape loneliness this time of the year.
That’s why this month, we are going to dive into one of the most universal human experiences: loneliness…
And how alcohol both helps us ease it and perpetuate it.
Stay tuned.
